Flint RiverQuarium

The Flint RiverQuarium in Albany, GA, is the first aquarium to join the CineMuse Network. The RiverQuarium promotes conservation through aquatic exhibits that interpret the unique ecosystems of the Flint River watershed, just outside its doors. They will launch CineMuse in January in their 103-seat large-format theater, and use the movies to enrich their program offerings.

San Diego Natural History Museum

The San Diego Natural History Museum has launched a monthly CineMuse series for junior and senior high school students. Following a model adopted by the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, another member site, guest researchers moderate a discussion with students following the movie. They have selected a range of CineMuse titles for their Hi-def Science program that link to California State Content Standards. Screenings are held in their 300-seat giant-screen theater with state-of-the-art acoustics and technology.

The Art and Science of Motion at CalTech

The California Institute of Technology has always found creative ways to use CineMuse Hi-Def Cinema. This month, they have collaborated with the Pasadena Symphony to create an event for children on the theme of movement. The program includes the CineMuse program A World in Motion with a new soundtrack performed live, as well as dancers and a scientific talk. New shows from NHK

CineMuse has just acquired four more episodes in the very popular series Wild Secrets. The new additions are Sea Otter: A Laid-Back Life; Termite Mounds: Pillars of the Community; Harpy Eagle: Raptor of the Canopy and The Gifts of Christmas Island, which focuses on the unique ecosystem of this tiny island in the Indian Ocean.

Another new addition to the catalogue is Nature Scopers, four short programs for very young children, which encourage them to explore the natural world.

We would like to thank the enthusiastic CineMuse Network members who took the time to view and comment on the many NHK shows we had to choose from. Your feedback was very useful and we plan to get member input on future additions to the CineMuse Library.
